In short: Technically there is really no “us” (as in an entity or organization) . This is just an informational site for some local pot tournament trails on the beautiful Lake Allatoona (~30 miles notrth of Atlanta, Georgia, USA). For these tournaments, you can just show up, sign up, and compete/have fun. This is not a club of any kind. The predominant pot tournament, the summer trail, is on Monday nights from 7 PM – 11 PM at Victoria Landing boat ramp and is commonly known as the Monday Night Pot Tournament. And the fall/winter trails, by various directors, are typically on Saturday and/or Sunday from safelight till noon. The current posted info on this site is mainly that of the Monday Night Pot Tournament - again, it's informational only. |
Background: This site was created and provided for free since 1997 (still free) to simply post and to keep track with tournament results (primarily of, but not limited to, the renown and highly popular summer Monday night pot tournaments). And the site has also been used to post useful information and some public information or announcements, such as those from Georgia Department Of Natural Resources, from any bass clubs, charity events, Corps Of Engineers, etc.
The primary trail (the Monday night pot tournaments in summer) basically started out from Little river store way back around the 80s. It was just a pot tournament (and still is). The directors and locations changed many times over the years. Director and helpers are totally volunteers. When one decides to stop doing it, others jump in or are asked to carry it on. It’s totally a non-profit trail. A portion of the entry fee is used to buy necessities (scales, LED, website hosting, baskets, polygraph test, etc.). Also, the trail often donates a portion of the money for community benefits. It has contributed money to help fund the fish attractor program and the guys even volunteered to help build the attractors. It has contributed money to help clean up the great Allatoona and will continue to do so. In 2006 and 2007 it has also helped funding the Georgia's Lifetime Sportsman License as part of an effort to help Georgia DNR conduct the Lake Allatoona Spotted Bass Tagging Study. All extra money each year is put back into the classic funds. The trail keeps track with anglers points. And the top teams plus some wildcard teams get to fish the season’s classic (see rules for each season for specific details). All anglers are expected to help keep each other honest. Polygraph tests are conducted at random. Some cheaters had actually been caught (even without the polygraph test). If you are thinking about cheating. Don't. All Sponsors gifts and money are given to anglers during the regular season as well as during the classic.
