08/10/09: “… And then one day you find ten years have got behind you. No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun …”  Ahh, “TIME”, the famous tune by Pink Floyd seems like a reasonable reminder that if you are not in the top 25, time is indeed running out.  If you are, you’d better hang on to it ‘cause there are others that will try to take your place!  Yes, there are only 2 tournaments left and the fight around the 25th place is just as fierce as the fight toward the top. 

The team of the year race heated up even more this week when the Pepper & Salt team (Calvin Jones & Eric Nethery), who’s been toying with winning many times, finally grab the winning prize last Monday.  They won the jackpot (first place, bigbass, and side-pot all at the same time).  This put them even closer to the top!  Yes, both types of the tops!  They are only one point away from taking over the top spot base on points.  And they are now only 3 lbs away from taking over the top spot base on overall weights.  Yes, they are second place in both counts but are inching in closer and closer.  See details in the standing.  On top of that, they are also the third team that won big bass twice in the same season.  Yes, one of the bass they brought in was a 5.40 lbs beauty.  Congratulations guys.

There are 3 more teams that reached 1000 points mark this weeks - Daniel & Donnie Thurman, Chad & Dwight Woodall, Mike Robinson & Mike Burrell.  Good job y’all.

Some reminders:

If you fish all 18 tournaments and end up below 25th place (26th and higher), you can still fish the classic but there will be $100 entry fee.

The classic will be August 28 at night.

If you’ve ever finished in top 5 here, your name will be sent to Highland Marina and you will get invitation to fish the state championship in November (Tournament of Champion).  So make sure you did provide your address to the directors already. If you finished in top 5 elsewhere, you will also be qualified too if the tournament has more than 20 boats in it. You just have to ask the director(s) to send in your name and a few info about the tournament (see Tournament of Champion site for details.
