8/24/09: And the last regular tournament of 2009 is in the bag. The winners are Henry Covington & Gus McLary. They brought in a nice sack of 9.63 lbs which helped them finished 6th for the year. And this is their second win this season! Super job guys. Congratulations.
The winning big bass of the night went to Allen Brooks and Hybrids R Us. Not sure how these 2 noobs anglers caught any green fish among them white ones they’d been catching. But one of the fish they brought in was a 3.84 lbs. This one is the smallest biggest bass of the year. Wait, that didn’t sound right. Well, it’s the smallest of all the biggest bass that had won this year.
The biggest bass of the year was caught by the team of Harvey Riggings and Doug White. It was a 7.22 lbs beauty. The guys will receive $200 for the big bass of the year award.
And the point leader of the year is the team of Greg Wilkerson and Dustin Wilson. They ended the year with 1302 points. Interestingly, even though they did not win first place or big bass this year, they are the most consistent team and have been among the top teams in the past years. They too will receive $200 award for their efforts.
And now, the real Team Of The Year is the team of Kelly Thompson and Todd Lambert. They beat out the runner up team by 0.06 lbs! Yes, lbs. Because the team of the year is awarded by highest accumulated weights for all 18 tournaments. Even though they ended up 3rd place overall in points standing, they are first in weights. The award for the Team Of The Year will be the totally paid entry fee for the 2010 season!

Even though there’s no perfect batting average this year, the team with the highest batting average is the team of Brandon Croft and Patrick Croft. They caught 88 keepers out of possible 90. Their batting average is 0.978!

Remember if you’ve ever finished in top 5 here, your name will be sent to Highland Marina and you will get invitation to fish the state championship in November (Tournament of Champion). So make sure you did provide your address to the directors already. If you finished in top 5 elsewhere, you will also be qualified too if the tournament has more than 20 boats in it. You just have to ask the director(s) to send in your name and a few info about the tournament (see Tournament of Champion site for details. |
