The classic showdown took place on September 28 & 29, 2002.  The event went very well and the directors didn't run away with money this year.  All competitors and family members enjoyed the whole event.  Check out pictures from the event and see who won.

Notes:

• If you finished in any of the top 5 here (including the classic), your name will be sent to Highland Marina.  You will then receive an invitation to fish the Georgia State Championship tournament at Westpoint lake.  Ask Bill Dare (770-591-5509) or any directors if you have any question.

• Newest daddy & mommy: Allen & Tina Brooks.  Brady Allen Brooks was born Sunday evening of September 22, 2002 – the day before the last tournament of the season.  Congratulations.
• Angler team of the year: Danny & Daniel Thurman
• Big Bass winners of the year: A 5.51 pounder by Matt Green & Calvin Jones team
• 2002 Summer Classic winners: Edwin Martin and Robert Drummond.  They did it with a whopping 27.67 lbs bag in 2 days on the Dead Sea!!!
• Two times winners club: Danny & Daniel Thurman, Gus McLary & Henry Covington, Matt Green & Calvin Jones, and Richard & Mark Elsner
• Most bass caught: Richard & Mark Elsner – 93 out of 95 maximum.  Almost perfect.
• There are 30 team that hit 100 lbs mark this year.
• Side-bet loser of the year: Bill Dare
• Eat free lunches on Bill Dare’s money (again): Hybrids ‘R Us & Allen Brooks
• Least point on the standing: -1.1 lbs (minus 1.1) by Bill Bohlander & Mark Osborne
• The weirdest & ugliest tournament vessel: A flat no-nothing pontoon by Gus McLary & Henry Covington
• Team with stuff broken most often: Kem Skelton & Kerry Baker - dead battery, broken watch, broken steering cable.
• No cheater caught this year
• Overall averages:
• Pound per bass: 1.34 lbs.  It's probably fair to say that if your average is less than this, you sucks.
• There were 3706 bass caught
• There were 446 limits out of 1283 team fished (149 distinct teams) – roughly a third of the teams caught limits each time.
• For teams that fished 10 tournaments or more (out of 19 total):
• Highest average lbs per tournament: 8.02 lbs/tournament by Danny & Daniel Thurman
• Highest average lbs per bass: 1.86 lbs by Rick Hollingsworth & Leman Smith
• Highest average fish caught per tournament: 4.89 fish/tournament by Richard & Mark Elsner
• Smallest pound per fish: 1.07 lbs by Ellis Wharton & Alex Moore
• Came in last place of all that fish all 19 tournaments: 60.35 lbs by Mark Kwiatkowski & Jeff Bruce

The Classic Rules:

• 2 Day Tournament to be held on September 28th and 29th from 5:30am to 2:00pm
• Lake is OFF LIMITS September 24, 25, 26, and 27.  Lake is off limits on the 28th and 29th except for the tournament hours
• All Monday Night Rules apply
• Blast Off will be done one boat at a time depending on the last Monday Night standings.  DO NOT BE LATE... or you will not fish.
• 10 fish 2 day limit.
• Examples:
• 3 fish on Saturday 7 fish on Sunday
• 9 fish on Saturday and 1 fish on Sunday
• 1 dead fish allowed each day with a .50 lb deduction
• All fish in the livewell must be weighed in
• Culling Rules:
• maximum of 10 fish in the livewell on Saturday
• Sunday maximum depends on how many fish you weigh in on Saturday
• Example if you weigh-in 7 fish on Saturday, your max for Sunday is 3
• all culling must be done before you come in for the weigh in
• No information is to be gathered or received before the classic, in other words, you can’t have someone fish on the off limit days and give you their findings.  This will be a question asked on the polygraph.
