Allatoona Team Tournament

The 2002 Classic
September 28 & 29, 2002

The winners: Edwin Martin & Robert Drummond.  They blew past the competition by over 10 lbs!  They brought in a
total of 27.67 lbs in 2 days on the Dead Sea.  Despite popular beliefs, they did not catch them in the rivers with their
jet boat!  Where?  Who knows.  CONGRATULATIONS.

With families.

And, they also won first day big bass with a 4.87 pounder.

Second day big bass winners: Steven Barday & Darin McCoy team with a 4.64 pounder.

Second place winners: James Tanner and Scott Anderson.  No, Scott is not this pretty.  He's not available for pictures.
James wife and their precious kids are enjoying the win with daddy.

Third place winners: Daniel & Danny Thurman.  Like father like son.

Forth place winners: Joe Johnson & Ricky Fowler.  Ricky is not available for picture.

Fifth place winners: David Wild & David Koski

DAY 1 (September 28, 2002)

The usual bs before the classic started

The sign-in gathering

Larry Jones was ready to go with brand new $40K+ boat

And day one competition was underway

This team had a broken steering cable early in the day but kept
on fishing!

On the way back to weigh-in

Youngest fan of the day, a future fisherman.

Day one weigh-in

DAY 2 (September 29, 2002)

Waiting for the rest of the teams to load up the boats

Getting the fish ready for weigh-in

The weigh-in gathering

More gathering

And more

And boats are still loading up and pulling out

The director was explaining to interested young audiences
on the rules, etc.

Geez, how exciting.  I can't stand it.

Two of the four big spots that weighed 12.22 lbs

Recording/calculating the standing

Bill Dare proudly won $10 side-bet

Loading up, cleaning up

Here's day 2 big bass, a 4.64 pounder spot.

Some of the directors: Mike & Mel Tennell, Bev & Bill Dare.  Bill's still bragging about his $10 bet win.

The Summer 2002 trail ended with great fun for all. The top three teams were polygraphed and they all passed.

A team of very good fishermen learned a painful lesson on day 2.  They would have won 2nd place.  But their live well stopped working during the day- unknown to them.  By the time they knew, some fish were already dead.  So, check your live well often and don't let it be a costly mistake.
