06/30/08:
When you bring in a 20 lbs sack of 5 fish at Guntersville lake, no one gets
excited. No big deal there. But when you bring in a 15+ lbs sack
on a 4 hours night tournament on the Dead Sea, everyone is excited!
That's what happened last Monday night when the Dead Sea Mafia Brandon Croft and Patrick
Croft crushed all competitions with a 15.62 lbs bag of good fish.
A
beautiful sack that doesn't happen often this time of year (on a 4 hours
night tournament). The second place sack was not even close, a 10.00
lbs! So they won first place and the sought-after
side-bet pot.
Besides the nice pay out of those wins,
they also won the biggest sack of the month for June! That's an
additional $100 bonus! At this stage of the season, it's easy to
fall down but difficult to move up even a notch or two. This win has
catapulted them from 18th to 8th place in the overall standing. Great job guys.
If you can keep this up you'll give those teams ahead of you a run for their
money. What a way to welcome
July 4th holiday huh. Congratulations.
And that not-even-close second place sack
came from Calvin Jones and Eric Nethery team who also won big bass of
the night when one of the 5 fish limit they caught was a 4.42 lbs beauty.
Nice catch guys. Congratulations.
The smallest sack of the month award ($50) was given to the team of Scott
McCord & Cliff Scott. Congratulations guys.
Many big fish were also brought in.
We are now 11 tournaments into the season. Interestingly, no team has
hit the jackpot yet! The jackpot is when a team wins first place, big
bass, and
side-bet pot
all at the same time. We shall see if that will happen this year.
Excluding the director team, there are now
11 teams out side of the top 25 that have fished all tournament so far.
Remember guys, if you fish all of them till the end and still don't make the
top 25 for the classic, you are eligible to be in the wildcard draw!
up to 5 teams will be drawn to be included in the classic (for a total of 30
teams). For those who have not fished all of them so far and are not
in top 25, well, you'd better haul arse and try to get in top 25 if you want
to fish the classic. Easier said than done, of course.
Remember, there's no tournament on July 7th. Have a very happy and
safe holidays with your love ones. See you all July 14th.
