  08/18/08: Winning is fun and exciting though not easy to do.  Even some teams in the top 10 have not won yet this year and here we are looking at the last regular tournament of the year coming up next week.  So when a team that has been fishing and trying finally won one, we are excited for them as well.  The winners this week is the team of Gary Thompson & Joe Woods.  They brought in a 12.84 lbs sack to beat the competitions which they also won the side-bet pot.  Obviously excited, they moved themselves up from 17th place to 12th place overall.  Great job guys.  Congratulations.   Equally excited are the big bass winners, Chris (pbmang) Wade & Chris (stumpthumper) Sears, the dead sea mafia members.  They brought in a beautiful spotted bass weighing 5.14 lbs to win it.  They also won second place with a total weight of 11.11 lbs sack.  The team also moved themselves up a couple of places to now 11th place - poised to enter the prestigious Monday Night top 10 at the end of the year.  One more tourney to go guys.  Congratulations.

  So, at the conclusion of next Monday Night tournament, those that are on the top 25 will get to fish the classic.  There will be a draw of those that fished all tournament but are not in the top 25.  The total teams that will fish the classic will be 30.  See FAQ and/or Rules for more details.   The entry fee for the classic will be $20 per team.  This will go to big bass for both nights - $300 each night.  If the water level permit, it will be at Victoria Landing.  If not, it will be announced.  See schedules for other details.   Multiple awards will be presented and/or announced.  Biggest sack of the month ($100), smallest sack of the month ($50), biggest fish of the year award ($250) - unless someone can do better than 8.00 lbs, Chuck and Allen Greer will be the winners of this award.   And, if the perfect batting average is achieved, $200 award will be given to the team!  Obviously we are talking about team(s) that have fished all tournament and have been able to catch a limit every time and has highest standing among the perfects!  There's only one possible team left this year that can achieve that - Greg Wilkerson & Dustin Wilson.  Let's root for them.  It will be one of the most impressive achievement for the lake indeed.  This has been done only once so far by Kelly Thompson & James Tanner.  They caught limits in all 18 tournaments back in Summer of 2000.   And, finally the team of the year award!  There's only one team that can possibly catch up with Tom Kazmerski & David Smith team this year - Kelly Thompson & Todd Lambert.  Not easy but possible.  But this is the famous Dead Sea.  Anything can happen.  For the award, the winning team will get free entry fee for the whole year next year (a $720 value), automatic first flight next year,  and get #1 boat number for the whole season!  This will come from next year tournament funds.
